my guess is somewhere between 300-400 but does anyone have a better guess? its a car 390 from a 63 thunderbird with 9.5 to 1 cr. performer rpm intake. edelbrock 600 carb. k&n air filter. cloyes strait up timing gear set. comp cams 268h camshaft. hedman headers with 2.5 inch exhaust and glasspacks and msd ignition system. anyone with a similar engine build know there hp? its got plenty of power but i was just curious if someone had an actual hp number. i hate when people ask me about the hp and all i can say is i dunno

 

Try this: Horsepower Calculator, calculate hp from et, trap speed, calculate tire diameter, mph and rear end ratio.

 

i don't have 1/4 mile times to use that calculator i was hoping maybe someone had the factory horsepower numbers. i figure if i added about 60-70 to that number id have a pretty good estimate of my horsepower.

 

In '63 the T-Bird 390 4bbl was 300 HP, the 390 with tri-power was 340 HP. There was also a low compression export only model rated at 275 hp.

 

thanx! so next time anyone asks me i think its safe to tell em around 350-375 horsepower without being to far off the closest dyno to me is 2 hours away and they want $120 for 3 pulls on the dyno

 

1970 car 390, 9.5:1, Streetmaster intake, 780 holley, MSD, Headmans, 2.5" duals with delta 40's, stock 2V cam. 226/306 at the wheels. Figure about 60 HP lost between the C6 and drivetrain.
