Question Performance Parts

Good Day All,

I have just picked up a 2013 Ford F350 with the 6.2L V8 engine and I am looking to add a few things to it. To start off I have been looking all over the internet for CAI (which I have only found two, K&N and AEF), Exhaust system and a tuner (Which I have been looking at 5Star).

If anyone could provided me with information as to were I could find these types of part it would be greatly appreciated.

I have an AFE stage 2 intake on my '11 F-250. I really like it. Honestly, it made the biggest difference between all of the parts I've added. I got the dry filter setup since the MAF sensor sits right behind the air filter. At cruising speed it adds a little bit of a rumble, and when I put my foot in it, it adds a very nice growl. I wish you luck on your search.

Go with the AFE over K&N for sure

Exhaust is really your choice, go on youtube and type in 6.2 ford and whatever exhaust brand you want

Is your air box sealed or open?

The Volant CAI on my 05 F150 5.4L was completely sealed and the air boxes intake ports were sealed against openings in the fender well and radiator bulk head. I was very happy with this system as there was no change in sound levels or tone. Like your AFE it was the biggest noticable change in performance on the truck. Volant is not interested in the 2011+ 6.2L SD's so I'm looking around.

The AFE Stage 2 uses an adapter the attaches to the lower airbox, using the stock clips on the lower box. The air filter goes through the new metal upper part of the airbox. It seals against the bottom of the hood. It uses the stock intakes in the lower box and fender. The only thing I didn't like was the overall fitment of it. It was VERY tight! Certain parts didn't line up exactly right. I even sent pictures to AFE, and they were baffled. But, I got everything to fit. I think it was just a manufacturing fubar that day. The part I don't like about the AFE setup is that when you take out all of the old O.E. resonance tubing, there are a few wiring looms that are held by the resonance setup and AFE made no provisions for these wires to be secured to anything. Thus zip ties and a little bit of fabricating. But other than that, I really like the setup. It added a nice kick to the low end. Wish you the best of luck deciding.

Now what ...

Good Day All,

Been doing something thinking lately as to what I can upgrade next for better preformance and better lower end torque. So far I have done the following:

1. Edge CTS tuner.
2. aFe 2 stage cold air intake.
3. aFe throttle body spacer.
4. Gibson exhaust.
5. Changed from 3.73 gear ratio to 4.30 to compensate for 37" tires.
6. EBC brake system.
7. Optima battery.
8. Front and rear trail ready bumpers.
9. PIAA fog and ATP lights in the front bumper. Back up lights in the rear bumper.

I know some of the above upgrades won't improve performance or torque but now I'm thinking what to do next.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please feel free.

If you are going with an aftermarket intake on the 6.2 you really need to consider a tune to go with it. The stock tune causes an aftermarket intake to resonate quite a bit, it also doesn't know what to do with the extra air and can cause the air/fuel ratio to be out of whack. Getting a tune at the same time will allow the intake to work at its peak efficiency.

I had the 4.30 gears installed on truck at purchase as I knew 37s were being installed with a 6inch radius arm lift. Instead of the Optima battery, I suggest NorthStar 99.9% lead battery. I run a snow plow, heater at full, mirror heater, radio, basically lots of electrically without headlight fade with this battery. Also for plowing we installed rear bumper lights. I suggest led lights for this application.

I bought a Rouch intake right from my ford dealer. The same intake fits both the 6.2 superduty and the ecoboost 150
