1944 Ford 1 1/2 ton
Okay so this will be my main focus on why I joined the forums. I am going to pick up the cab and fenders from a 46 ford 1 ton I believe later in the week. Don't worry pics and video will come soon. I want to turn it back into a working dually flatbed rig for my job. Since this is only the cab, fenders, and hood I will need to find a chassis and engine etc. I have been reading many people use s10 or ford ranger chassis on these but I want a dually to haul stuff. I don't think a ranger chassis will handle the loads and stress I may use it for. Plus I don't think it would be long enough. I am really curious of any of you have alternate options for chassis?

Here it is! 1947 Ford. Who knows how long this will take. I want to turn this back into a running dually with a diesel engine. In the photos you can see it takes many of us to move the cab. That thing is way heavier than you would suspect. In the last photo you I rolled the window down a little. IT STILL WORKS! Also on the dash I though it is cool it is still in tacked. These things originally had the FlatHeadV8 ad you can see before the engine was removed it had 40,000 miles on it.

Thanks for the tip I will try and do that. Funny thing I got a call from a guy today that I must of messaged a few weeks ago. He also has a 47 Ford 1 1/2 ton with the chassis. Some guy might be hotroding it so the owner was going to let me know and might just sell me the chassis. I would be shocked if that happened. Hey I checked out your thread the project is looking good.

Hey all here is an update on the project. I was looking for frames and I visited a guy that had a Ford COE frame. The width on those are the same. Well he has a 44 Ford F5 as well but all in tact, just needs work. I am going to buy it and trade the fenders I have from the first purchase. That leaves me with the hood and cab. Question is. Should I just sell my cab or go for a 1944 Crew cab! know that is a lot of work but I have been debating merging 2 cabs. Anyways I shall have pics in a few days.

Okay I have more images for ya peeps!
My dad and I went to try and get it running but we couldn't. The battery didn't have enough juice. It turns over but wont fire up. We took the carb off to work back at the house.
The guy I bought it from bought it from another guy that had it lying around and I guess kids shot the glass and lights.

Very nice find! I'd get it running before you talk 'rebuild'. Flathead V8s can be pretty expensive to build, and it would be good to know if the power and gearing are suitable for your needs before you do this. The truck in stock form will probably top out at 45 mph. I also have had some really good running flatties that looked greasy/rusty and generally rough. That's way more fun than the all painted up and rebuilt ones that run like ****. I've ended up with a couple of those too. Best of luck, and keep up the photos. They make the posts way more fun!

Yea the goal is to get is running, fix the brakes, and some new tires. Getting it driveable is the first goal. I still want to put in a new engine, drivetrain etc. My dad was thinking once I start that other project he will take the flathead and use it for a hotrod. I was going to post a video when it gets running!
