Very often these are stolen. Please remember to use something like this

Tailgates are stolen in about 20 seconds and quickly sold on craigslist. Sometimes even back to the original owner (doh!)

All I can say is my brother recently was the victim of theft and the insurance company paid out $4,000 to replace his tailgate with the step and backup camera! Ford doesn't sell a complete tailgate ready to go, you have to buy all the parts then paint and assemble it. He found a used complete tailgate in CA for $1,250 (most likely stolen I'm guessing), but the crack head that he bought it from packaged it with one weak ply of bubble wrap and when it arrived, it looked like Jim Carey's Cable Guy character delivered it. It was so bad he ended up buying a new shell from Ford and transferring all the parts.
You didn't say what the damage is to your tailgate, but your best option may be to purchase a new shell and whatever miscellaneous parts you may need.

I did not have my wife help me hook up the 5th wheel. The first time I backed up against the 5th wheel hitch. dumb. The second time I unhooked the 5th wheel and tried to pull the truck forward with the tailgate still closed. The 5th wheel hitch was not quite high enough.
Now, how stupid was that? . . . . .Ken

great video
Great video. Don't mess with bears as even the smaller ones are way too powerful. That was a fairly big bear though. Looked in the 500 plus range but hard to say. Wish I had some video with my experiences with bears, wolves, cougar, and believe it or not, the time an African male lion ran by me...from the rear about 6 feet to my left. Didn't even see him coming until the very last second. Now that gets your heart going.
