Help 07 f150 This was in my trany pan

I am changing my trany filter and fluid and when I dropped the pan this plastic bobber thing is ln the pan.
I dont know if I causes this or if something is broken. Anyone know what this is and where it goes. I also posted this same question in trans. forum.
Thanks im stumped.

Thanks

That is a plug used at the factory to keep crap out of the trans while it is on the "shelf" waiting to be installed... It is a plug for the dip stick tube hole in the trans case.. When the dipstick tube is installed it gets pushed into the pan, never to be a problem except to make someone worry as to what the hell it is..

It pretty much proves the pan has never been off before..

Just chuck it in the trash and go on with your planned maintenance...

I just found the exact same thing yesterday, I'm stumped?

I didn't find it until I dumped my drain pan and the tranny was all buttoned up. And I had already put 60 miles on the truck. But it drove the same as always o_O

Once you find one in a pan and learn what it is, you'll smile whenever you see a thread like this because you remember exactly how you felt when you saw it in your trans pan.

Yeah I'm sure glad it was nothing. What really had me stumped was the fact that the shifting didn't change one bit. I cleaned up the driveway, went for a test drive, and went about my day. Much later I dumped the catch pan and that bobber came out. My head has been spinning worrying about what potential damage I may have caused. Luckily before I dropped the pan again to investigate, I came to fte and saw this thread.

You guys saved me a lot of unneeded work!

Take it to your local Ford dealer. They will de-code the hidden message on the o-ring to see if you have won the 1974 Pinto as a grand prize.
