The heat shield was on the engine when I got it. In six years of parts scrounging I haven't seen one as a standalone used part for sale.

The clamp attaches to the oil pan bolt like this. It is just a 90 degree metal tab, nothing fancy...also on the engine when I got it.

Tom,

Thanks for the information and the photo. It's very helpful. You're lucky to have purchased a vehicle with such a complete engine.

ct50f1-- I have a spare heat shield and sent you a pm.
Also I believe that the clamp on the lower end of breather pipe is an add-on.

Thumbs up

Those are some of the coolest pics I've seen. Just was wondering where you ordered the beauty rings from and what wheels would fit. Have a 55 3/4 ton long bed That I just picked to do a restore on for our shop.

That's interesting. I think I've seen it in a couple of online pictures but I don't recall seeing it in any stock photos or in the shop manual.

I've responded to your PM.

Part number for the clamp is 8287 on page 139 of the Illustrations Catalog. 8287 is used for lots of clamps and I don't think that's it.

Further study shows for the 48-51 226, a ventilation tube extension clamp 8EQ 8556 on page 319 of the Text Catalog.

I don't have one, and I think it would be pretty easy to make from a hose clamp and a 90 degree angle on a small piece of sheet metal.

I had the same idea about making one. Doesn't seem like it would be too hard. Thanks for the diagram.

Thanks, I didn't know my wife took a picture of me heading down the road. It is now the desktop background photo.

I got the 16" trim rings from Midwest Early Ford. Website Part number 01A-18303-16 they are $25 each. They fit pretty well on the stock Ford wheels.

The ventilation tube extension clamp is actually curved on the end to match the pipe that clamps to it. I think the clamp is the same one as used on the V8 road draft tube, but I could be wrong.

I have the 90 degree piece of sheet metal but now can't find a clamp I like the look of. Does any know where to find an original looking clamp? Several of the parts catalogs have them for the radiator hoses but they're too big. The one for the breather pipe would have to be around 1 1/4 ".

I didn't have either part, the bracket or the clamp. But not needing it to look stock, I made my own very simply. I bent a bracket with a correctly spaced hole to match the oil pan bolt, and used a hose clamp.

Cool custom! I'd pay a dollar for a ride in that! Nice part of the world you live in!

Joe, I agree that a standard hose clamp from the hardware store will do the job although I was hoping to find an original looking clamp like the one in the picture of Tom's truck. I'll probably put one like yours on the truck and then keep looking around at flea markets for an original. It will be easy enough to replace if I ever find one.

Wow thats a good picture riding down the road like that. Nineteen years ago I took my daughter out for a ride in a 61 Metropolitan I had just restored. Now shes 28 on her own and has little to no interest in Dad's toys.Enjoy your spending time with your niece while you can.
