Cleaning up my Van Turbo b4 rebuild

Any suggestions on cleaning the Alum housing of the Turbo? I was able to get the rust off the exhaust housing and put 2 coats of POR 20 (good up to 1400 degrees) but the Alum is really being a PITA to prep before I paint it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Sand blaster leaves a really schnazzy finish.
You could soak it in raw degreaser concentrate for a day... then spray it off, hit it with acetone and paint away.

Wish I had a sand blaster. I have seen the cheap ones at Sears and have always thought it would be cool to have one.

Any particular raw degreaser you recommend?

The harbor freight "super heavy duty" stuff. If that isnt available... simple green does wonders.
Harbor freight also carries self contained media blasting heads that plug in to your regular air compressor for around 20$.

Thanks. Sounds like a trip to HF is in order. Degreasing it is not the issue as I'm trying to get the oxidation off of it.

Also, I purchased the 360 degree thrust bearing. Supposed to beefen up this area that is prone to failure. I have not been able to find much from fellow FTE's that have used them. Any input?

Here are some pics of the stock 260 degree Vs. the 360 Degree. Kit was from Barder Turbo and was $30 bones.

Will do. I hope to have pics of the whole process to post when it's complete. Plan is to get delete pedestal and exhaust adapter then tackle it all at once including bellowed up pipes.

Here are some pics with the thrust bearings in the back plate.
