97' F450 Dana 80 rear disc pads

This will be my first time changing the disc pads out on the dana 80 rear and wondering the correct way to do...looks like theres no bolts but upper and lower "Pins", do I use a flat nose punch or is there a Special tool for getting pads out....going to dive into this today

Yep, just punch out those pins top and bottom and the caliper will slide right out. Pretty standard Ford Disc Brake setup.

Thanks George, got the pins out but caliper wont come off, cant get pads past the worn lip on rotors, need to somehow un-compress calipers....not sure how to do this yet but going out to take another look...

Don't put the punch in the center, it's rubber... Use a wide nose punch to start with and work each metal part of the slide into the housing to get it started, then use a longer to knock it through..

I have a punch that has a square shank that fits right in the slides, I use the small end to get it started then turn it around to the square part and go for it..

Thanks White, I end up using needle nose vise grips to compress pins then used punch to get em started....these are a lot different than my toyota landcruiser..lol

OK, got em off! that was hard, slowly pried calipers off....now, got a clamp and compressing pistons for new pads... hope other side goes ok
