Thanks for checking in! Progress is never as fast as I want it. I'm hoping to be able to try that retirement thing out in about 15 yrs!

We got the electric fuel pump installed and have been working on the wiring in the cab. The engine starts and runs pretty good but the carb seems to be loading up with too much fuel and it will die after a few minutes. Any suggestions? The carb was rebuilt prior to the work done on the truck at Truckfest. Probably needs some adjustment.

I knew Truckstock 13 was not a realistic goal for the truck but maybe Truckfest in WI this Spring...

On a related note since my Dad is traveling I recruited my wife and stepsons to help me move one of my other (the 77 F150) trucks closer to our shop so I can try to get it started. I actually got my wife on the Jubilee tractor to pull the truck while I steered. When we were done she said "I don't really like that truck, I liked the fat fendered one". I think hosting Truckfest has paid off in several ways for me!

Are you using a regulator with the electric pump? Holleys really don't like much pressure. I'm kind of struggling with this lately, the regulators work great when you are driving, but at idle they struggle to keep pressures low. Anyway, the best one I've found is Holley 12-804. Mine is 8 - 9 yrs old and finally succumbed to alcohol-laced fuel, shot a geyser of gas right at my exhaust manifold! Fortunately, the engine was cold. I got a rebuild kit for the regulator for $11, and rotated the reg so the weep hole points AWAY from the engine.

Thanks Ross. Good suggestion & not real expensive from what I can tell. I will give that a try.

To me, a Regulator is essential with an electric pump. I personally prefer the more expensive race car type versions from Holley or others that have a more precise adjustment capability with a gauge at the Regulator in addition to the one I have in the dashboard.

Yes if you are running the old Holley 94 or Stromberg 97 carbs always use a fuel regulator and pressure gauge even with a mechanical pump. Anything more than 4 PSI tends to blow the gaskets out which in turn leaks fuel which then starts on fire. (Don't ask me how I know ) I run mine at 2.5 psi with a mechanical pump.

Thanks guys. I'll be looking to get a regulator asap! I'll let you know how it works out.
