You just didn't notice them because there was no glare to see the ripples in the metal. I found a huge dent in the top of the hood on the passenger side and didn't notice it until the second coat of primer. The passenger side door looked great until I sanded it down. There's quite a bit of mud work to do on that door. I haven't even gotten in to the roof or cowl yet. I'm not sure what I'll find there. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

Remember it a GO truck not a SHOW truck, but I know you and your standards. OCD and trying to get things done like body can be a double edged sword.

Thank you again for all your hard work.

Looking good!

And your right earthquake68, the more you sand the more imperfections you find. Really like the stand for holding the fender up. It's coming together.

Ok everyone. Here's where I landed today. The PLAN, ...is to work the primer and surface prep through the week. Shoot the color on Thursday. Then reassemble and deliver next weekend.

The roof was BAD. The spots on the roof are actually little dings. The rust hole before I cut it out is worse than it looks. The discoloration is actually really bad scaling on the back side of the metal. That's why I cut it all out. I'd say about 98% of the rough mud work is done. Just a few coats of primer and some blocking away from laying color.

This is where I started. Nice finish on the paint, huh?

The roof lights were so rotted, I had to cut them off. Speaking of rust, ...here's above the driver's door.

Here's that dent in the hood I was talking about. It's all good now. Maybe just a tad more fine tuning on the body line.

This is where I stopped for the day. I'll tape it up and shoot some primer tomorrow after work.

It's amazing what you find when you really start to tear into something. I'm sure it'll look righteous when you finish it.

Righteous? I hoping for "good enough". This thing is really bad. I have two or three coats of primer on the rough areas already. My plan is to surface sand everything from here tomorrow and lay an even coat of primer. Wednesday, I want to block it out and lay the last coat of primer. On Thursday the plan is to get up early, do one last blocking and lay the color down.

Speaking of primer. ....it's all one color! I found a couple rust holes under the rear glass I had to weld in. After I got primer on it, I found a couple more pin holes. I'll have to weld those up before the next coat of primer tomorrow. The roof is gonna need some more blocking, too.

Anyway.......

Well, I had a good day until I went to put everything away.

I got the last of the primer down on everything. I saw some dings and imperfections, but they weren't that bad. I let everything cure and when I went to put hood up for the night, the light hit the front of the hood just right.

The WHOLE LEADING EDGE looks like a bag of smashed @ $$ holes! Looks like I'll be doing more metal and mud work tomorrow so I can MAYBE paint this on Friday. Anyway, here's how it looks today....

...and the offending hood. This really ticks me off. I'm looking at another 4 hours easy to fix this to where it won't be embarrassing to show it to people.

Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you

Like I said numerous time, let me know when you want a hand with the re-assembly.

I think I found a black leather bench seat out of a 2003 Super Duty with fold down arm rest, and a new black dash pad.....

That would look REALLY nice in there. I knew this wasn't going to be easy, but I really didn't think it was going to be this bent up. Not only did I find the front damage, I found another dent opposite of the one I fixed a few days ago. It just seems the straighter it gets, the more crap I find to fix. (which is usually how it goes) , .....but this. ....wow. This borders on frustrating, now.
