Unhappy 95 Eddie Bower fuel prob? or distributor?

We have a 95 Ford Eddie bower, 4.9, 5 speed. It was running fine then it wouldn't. Hard to start and hear fuel pump on, switch tanks and it does the same thing. Put a rotor and dist. cap on and was given the wrong one and rotor broke. Got new right rotor and cap and put on. Can start it but only with accelerator floored and it will not idle. Of course fuel pumps still stay on. Inertia switch seems to be fine. What do we do next?

Get a Equus 3145 code reader and retrieve the codes of the computer (there is a port that reads "EEC Test" on the driver side fender where you plug the reader). If a huge list of codes is present the computer is probably gone.

Oh, and that's an Eddie Bauer btw, welcome to FTE Lissa!.
