OT: Ford announces it is pulling out of pro drag racing!

Ford has dropped a bombshell with it's announcement that it will no longer support professional drag racing after the end of the 2014 season. The writing is on the wall that Ford is going to be changing it's marketing away from us enthusiasts and gearheads to concentrate on yuppie treehugger econoboxes. Isn't that what nearly did in the US manufacturers back in the last gas crisis?

I predict John Force will retire and his family will get picked up by another team. I don't see his team finding a sponsor as supportive ($) as Ford.

Being an NHRA member and life-long racer I can't believe it. What a bunch of mah-rooons ! The heritage of Drag Racing was founded upon A-Bones and '30s Coupes / Roadsters.

I agree. As much as I love John Force, I'd like to see him retire his seat, and bask in a Richard Petty-like fame the rest of his life.
