mode-6 EVR dutycycle for flow test and threshold

On my 2000 Excursion I get a fail in mode 6 for
TID:$4b CID:$30
which means according to the ford obd2 manual:

EVR dutycycle for flow test and threshold

The limit is around 26k, I get about 31k.
Doesn't always happen, just once in a while.
Which part is suspect ?
Only thing I noticed once in a while under load is some pinging.

Are you troubleshooting an actual problem or is this some wild goose chase after poking around with a scan tool?

pinging under load would be the problem.
Since this is EGR related I'd say that could very well be the cause.
Which part do I check or replace ?

Under the hood. Follow the vacuum line from the EGR valve.

Found the evr. It's right in the middle/back of engine close to the firewall. Hard to see.
