This was after I left the RRE event. I loaded up the superduty and headed home and a lot of guys were asking me about my set up and how well it tows. This is pulling a grade on I40. Well here you go! I don't think it did too bad?
Looks like it does good, but I would expect it to do pretty well with what you've got in it. Mine's a dog towing, but it gets the job done...until I can get some mods done... Maybe one day....
Most people think that with big injectors you cant have a nice tow rig as well as toy, I am just showing that when it is set up correctly, you can have both!

That's exactly what I want! I guess a lot of it is in the tuning isn't it?
Yeah, good tunes make or break how the injectors run both idle quality and performance. These gearhead tunes are the smoothest I have ever ran on my truck.
The tunes I have now SUCK! After talking to you and some other guys on here, and doing some research of my own when I got home from RRE, I have decided that I am going with Gearhead tunes.
I wish I could find a mounting kit that I can mount an S400 on and still use high rise intake plenums without the compressor housing hitting the plenum.. My Murff kit w/ a standard S400 just barely clears the plenum.. I'm pretty sure the big race cover on that 468 would hit it. I'm going to have to try out that wheel with the standard S400 cover.
Borg makes the 468 with a smaller non race cover. FYI, I have noticed 0 difference from the raised plenums and the flat plate ones.
Yeah. There's a few different versions of the 68. cast wheel, FMW, race cover, and standard cover. I don't know anyone running an FMW with a standard cover, but I might have to in order to keep my raised plenums. Heck I've even considered trying out the cast wheel to see if there is any real difference in spool characteristics and power capability. I'm sure the FMW makes a fuzz more power though.
I've already got a set of DI plenums and I feel like we could use as much volume in the heads as possible. I know there won't be any difference felt, it's just a thought I can't get out of my head. LOL. Kinda like my obsession with not using ARP studs when I can have H11s. I'm weird like that.
I know I can get the FMW with the standard cover, I was told its an inch difference. Not sure if the price changes, but now I'm curious and will have to find out! Heck, I say stick with what works for you, so I'm not going to try to persuade you in any certain direction. H11's are a great stud, they just cost a lot more. (I'm kind of cheap sometimes I guess!)
Ya thats a awesome rig Matt. It got me wanting to build a race truck now. What are your egts getting up to on a hard pull? And what water meth kit are you using? You better come back to rre next year too!
I have a SD plastic end tank IC. Not sure on the grade, it's on In40 around crossville tn, it goes for a few miles. The trailer I have is 4500 and I had a ex cab long bed f-250 on the trailer(@8k I think). Scaled my truck at 6900 today so total would be 19-20k. That was the "hardest" pull I had and I took the vid 3/4 of the way up the hill. 1200* with the cruise set was about max, I could go more if I was in a hotter tune but that was the street tune from gear head. The water kit is one I put together from stuff I had laying around, that's only one devils own nozzle spraying, I have a second stage that I never use! I'll be back to RRE next year as long as it stays where it was this year(I liked the setting and kids had a great time)!
