56 F100 lower window felts, clip or glue in

I see a number of threads on this problem relating to the clips to hold the felt strips in place. However the articles I saw all seemed to be the 48-52 trucks.
Do the 56's have the same problem?

I have the stainless felt strip around one window and all but across the bottom of the other window. I see on Mid fifty they sell the two strips for the bottom of the window channel in 2 types
1. with clips $50
2. without clips $17

A. If these are as much of a pain as indicated, should I just be buying the non clip ones and glue them in as discussed in this thread by Greg M-47.

Some recommend 3M SUPER weatherstrip adhesive, black (if available in Oz)

B. Did anyone try, and have success with, these clips as discussed here by cts1954. He was happy with them although I notice they are by Vintque, and some have panned theirs, but perhaps this is a later, better production.

I am doing an order to send off shortly for parts and would like to sort this out and get this problem fixed before I replace the cracked drivers window glass.

A bit long winded but I look forward to your advice.

I struggled several times with the Dennis C. clips to no avail, then ordered the Vintiques clips last month. They worked first time, no drama. Clearly different metal than in the past. Maybe someone actually listens?! (note these are the 48-52 clips, not sure if they are the same)

I had nothing but grief and cross words with the expensive channel strips... even enlarging the holes a tad, the clips would either just fight going in or mush outta shape. I tossed them and went with the non-clips version from MF and some window cement (don't remember brand, but it was the black and similar to weather strip adhesive)... piece-o-cake, took maybe 10 minutes to install... holding tight, no worries.

Now, getting the window to crank up straight and aligned was a whole nother story for me but not due to the strips.

Good luck... Brian

Thanks ALBUQ-F1 and Brian for your comments. I must admit to still being confused with 2 opposite responses. I guess this is only because I am really unfamiliar with this part itself. I am glad you had success with the clips ALBUQ as I had read your and other blokes dramas with them in the past.

The bloke on Ebay still has the Vintique clips. Can anyone tell me if the Mid fifty strips with clips work or can the Vintique strips go on them or do I just glue the things in? Are the 48-52 clips the same as the 56 ones?

Appreciate your comments fellas.

I have just spoken to a lady at Mid fifty, which was an interesting experience, as even when I was in America on holidays, people had trouble understanding my Australian accent when face to face, so it was a real challenge on the phone. Anyway we did OK in the end. It was worth the phone call, as I had a few questions, though I am still unclear about the felt wipes.

When I asked her about the SS lower felt wipes for the 56, with the clips part 1727-56 at $50 and the SS stick on ones at $17, she indicated that the expensive ones were shaped up at the ends to suit, and that the cheaper ones were simply a straight piece cut to suit that would not bend up properly. Also that I would probably need to take off the clips and reglue them as they may not be in exactly the right place for every truck.

MY QUESTION

Brian, (or for anyone else who can help) after all that, my question to you is, I gather you have a 55, so with the cheaper stick on one, did you have any trouble bending them up at each end to suit the window frame and did it look good.

Look forward to your comments.
Thanks

Sorry, been traveling and away from forum abit... My profile needs updating I think, and the reference I made was with my `56... I never bent the ends on the strips, but I did squeeze them flat vertically for better window clearance where the door shell curves upward at the rear.

It may not be stock looking, but not much of a visual compromise IMHO.

Trying to make the clipped lowers work, along new divider felt and channel moldings, really made windows hard to roll up/down cuz everything was so tight on the glass.

Anyways... good luck.

Brian

So Neville have you successful installing the SS lower felt wipes for your 56 ?? Which way did you go. I've been wrestling with my for the past week with no success. I had to order some more clips. Talking about a pain in the rear these lower felts have put a whipping on myself.

Hello Jack, I recently bought the stick on strips, but have not got to it yet. As part of that job, I have to replace the drivers window glass and the cog in my electric window motor if I can work out where to get it. I was tempted to buy the clips ones, and the ebay clips someone suggested at the link in my post, but chickened out. Good luck with it, please let us know how you get on.
