Yes! THANKS, Justin!
Those were REALLY informative videos about the unimaginable amount of work these craftsmen are painstakingly going through to restore these old, priceless reminders of our country's once-great manufacturing skill.
It's also a tribute to the top management of the Union Pacific Corporation for allowing the financing for all this to be possible, and for realizing that there's more to a "corporate soul" than stockholder returns.
No wonder that they are consistently named the #1 most-admired among trucking, transportation, and logistics companies by Fortune Magazine.

its funny to see some people complain that its taking so long to work on these engines... makes ya want to yell at them that this is not overhaulin tv show where they spraybomb a turd and throw some rims and speakers at it....
most don't realize its i pain in the backside to form and work with steel that's 1/4" and up!!!! id assume most of those engines are 1/2" plate and up!
its neat to listen to how they have to go back to the original drawings to make tooling, and how they wander around the roundhouse and shop and find the machines and new old stock of stuff.

while operating this guy today i got my first chance to "railfan" some!!! been trying to catch a picture of the BNSF freight loco that metrolink has been running on the cab car end of one of there trains.
i herd metrolink leased some engines from BNSF to run on the cabcar end of there trains along with there own locomotives( i guess basically a battering ram on each end?). while waiting for the report to be released on the bad wreck they had last year out by seans place that killed the engineer.
anyways, today's catch of a UP intermodal train most likely heading to The Loop. since the antelope valley line comes out of LA, SFV, SCV, then follows the 14 fwy roughly into the AV and keeps going all the way to Mojave and then to the Loop.
i could hear these 3 beasts for 10 min as they thundered up the valley slowly out of acton and passing me about 2 miles before the vincent grade/acton metrolink station.
forgot to get a picture of "fred" haha
