Turbo Options

Hey guys. Im looking to upgrade my 7.3 and want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before I go start blowing money.

I think I know what Im doing injector wise, now Im looking at turbos. I initially thought I was going to go D66 but then I found an H2E for sale on here for a good price. I looked up how theyd do and there is a HUGE debate on whether a H2E is better than a D66... Then I also read where some companies will take a stock turbo, throw some goodies at it and make it flow as good as a D66 for a lot cheaper. Needless to say... my head is spinning.

For injectors, I like Rosewoods. I think Im going to go with Stage IIs, possibly IIIs since theyre hybrids but that all depends on how much turbo Im willing to buy lol.

All info is appreciated!

It all depends on the budget. The bigger the injectors, the more supporting mods needed.

Honestly..I have not seen many if any in love with their d66.
Neal sure loves his h2e . Travis will chime in and spend your childrens inheritance since you said turbo.
If the h2e is from rob,who did have one for sale.he is a good dude and will not steer you wrong. Get 400/200 sticks and a s468 and duals...make 600+ and let me know how you like it lol!

I don't thik the D66 is worth it. The compressor wheel is bigger but the turbine is still stock. Meaning that its not gonna move exhaust out any faster then stock.

The H2E is a nice turbo but the hypermax mounting kit isn't cheap. And if you ever decide to change turbo you'll have to change mounting kits.

What is your plan for your truck ?
What's your HP goal ?

I had a similar question on another of my threads, so Ill tell you the same answer lol.

It will be my DD. I have a truck camper (slides in the bed) that I use occasionally, my father-in-law has a race car that I offer to tow for him a few times a year, but above all, I want something that is completely reliable! I want to slap this engine back in the truck and never have to touch it for 500,000 miles.

Basically Im looking for reliability with a good kick in the pants. If I got 400 hp, I would be flabbergasted!

No you'll have to buy a kit

The only direct replacement is the D66

PERFECT!!! Holy cow I learned a lot in less than ten minutes lol.

How about a tuner? Should I go custom and get it from someone like Riffraff or Swamps?

Go with custom tunes from one of the big names. PHP will be the cheapest.
You'll also need a IC and a HPOP

What Mike's saying is a good setup. I've got all he mentioned and am very happy.

If you go this way you really should do pushrods, valve springs, and head studs too. I haven't yet, but I'm going to.

Ronnie have you ever had you tune tweaked ?
IIRC Travis put down that with a stock turbo
