my aunt has a 91 explorer with a 4.0 auto 4x4 and its crackin flexplates every 4 to 5 months i need help please.

Check for the dowels between the engine and the bell housing. If a dowel is missing the alignment will be off a little and a broken flexplate is the usual result.

Hey 78longbox, your post about the explorer flexplate problem sounds similar to mine. I have a '92 explorer and I've gone through 4 flexplates in 4 months. Did you solve the problem? If so, what was the problem? Its driving me up a wall and costing me time and money. thanks Augie
