400 engine bays

Hey guys im in the process of putting my 400 back into my 77 250 custome and like an idiot I forgot to take pictures of it before I pulled it. I want to make sure I put it all back together correctly so if you guys have any pictures of your engine in the truck id love to see it! Thanks in advance

Not a bad idea if the wife would only approve ha ha. I have a general idea of where it all goes but some things just don't seem to fit

The wire going from the distributor to the coil is very tight and I have no idea what goes into each of the two holes on the valve covers. I believe one gets a breather cap and one has a hose running to it but I don't know where the other end of the hose connects

As OEM, the oil fill should connect to the air cleaner, most of the time by a plastic fitting that has a small filter on it inside the air cleaner housing. This is the source of air for the PCV system.

The other hole should have a PCV valve in it, and that hose should connect to the base of the carb, or to a spacer under the carb, or to the manifold. That is the source of vacuum that draws air and fumes out of the engine, and clean air in via the hose connected to the air cleaner.

There are some variations. Often, the oil fill cap is replaced by a breather with a filter in it, and the air is drawn in that way.

Does it matter which one is on which side? I ask because it seems to me I can arrange it so I have a shorter hose going from the pcv valve to the carb.

i dont think it matters, both are just openings in the valve cover.

mine just has a little air filter on the breather.

when i first got it. looks like some stuff is capped off. probably the beginnings of emissions systems.

LOL

Previous owner had it bypassed when it started fogging up the windows. I have a new one sitting on the floor board for when I get to it.

Engine bay looks like this now though, so it'll be a while before it's putting out heat!

Dude! You're supposed to take them out of the package. THEN lay them on top of the motor. Oh wait...
