I'm on the road towing with this thing

We are about 300 miles down the road pulling our trailer, I stopped at the elevator before we left. I have about 60 gal of water on board. DW and dogs weren't with when I weighted unloaded but I added their weights to the empty weight, that's why the front is the same on both.

No trailer but almost full of gas including the 50 gal aux
Front 4080
Rear 4359
Total 8439

With trailer
Front 4980
Rear 7620
Total 11700

Pin 3261
Trailer 15901
Gross 24340

I checked the on board computer on my first fill and its within .04 hand calculated. Right now we are averaging 8.8 going down I-80, when we were in Neb on the flat I was running it in 6th gear now in the hills of Iowa it's 5th and 4th. The truck had a grand total of 870 miles on it when we left so should get better. I'm still getting the hang of this truck but you have to keep the rpms up and I think the Tow Haul is a joke, whoever came up with the programming needs to spend some time towing with a 6.2. The cruise control worked alright on the flat but it's like most it's to aggressive on any kind of a hill but tomorrow I will try it in the manual mode.

So far I would not take my 2V V10 back

Denny

Geez 8.8 I'm not getting that running solo. Of course I have been doing a lot of town driving so that doesn't help. I am averaging 8.0 around town. But it's good to hear a towing report from you Denny.

JohnnyThunder is starting off with a positive reputation.
I averaged 8.8 over 4300 miles down through Tennessee and our truck has a bit over 70,000 miles on it so I would not expect much more towing. BTW keep the cruise on and go to manual mode and shift when you feel it needs it. You will be amazed how long you can hold gears, I hardly ever ran 6th though as it seemed to lug too much although yours in 6th probably runs abt the same as mine in 5th given the different gears.

We made it to our destination outside of Duluth MN and after hitting some some headwinds the final average mileage ended up being 8.5. We stayed on interstate on our trip up here but when we return in a couple of weeks we will stay on 2 lane and see how it does, I know the mileage will go down some but that's the way we like to travel.

We are very satisfied with the truck and the way it preforms pulling our load, it's a not a V10 it's a 6.2 and it has it's own sound and performance range. Now that I'm getting its performance range figured out this thing is a workhouse. The V10 had a sound all its own but the 6.2 sounds more like a muscle car from the 60s and 70s .

I agree, the 6.2 is very quite until 4000 rpm and then it sounds...in my best Tony the tiger voice....GREAT!

Yes it's a little heavy but HH are built that way so they will last longer under heavy use. Ours has somewhere over 80K on it and it's still holding up . I put air bags on this truck and I don't even need them to hold it level but if I have 20 lbs in them it does ride a little better. We live in it 8 months out of the year so we wanted something that will hold up to the beating our roads can dish out.
