possible trade for an 03 6.0

Im posting this here since I know more of you excursion guys, I never post in the super duty forum.

So I have a 2011 ford flex I bought about 4 months ago. While I like it, it sorta was an impulse buy. If I can sekl or trade without taking MUCH loss, id rather have a powerstroke SD or excursion. Ill still be keeping my v10 excursion.

Well I listed it on craigslist for sale or trade. Ive had a few calls but one that got my interest was a lifted bkack f250. 03 6.0 with 125k. Says no issues. Kinda scared about an early 6.0...anything to look for? Whats it worth? Has quite a few mods including 40 in tires 20x12s, apparently a 12in lift. Quad leather buckets, fronts could be recovered eventually. 2012 tails and bumper. 12 inch Drop hitch. 5in straight pipe 8in tip. Intake. No tune or anything.ill post a couple pics in a minute. Wondering what its worth roughly. Not sure if its a lariat or xlt however.

That's a Centenial Edition Super Duty...

They were released for the 2003 My to commemorate 100 years. If you had a Flex you probably need something just as practical. While it's a nice truck, I would pass until you came across a Super Duty or Excursion that was stock height.

Personally I wouldn't trade on the basis of you have a perfect vehicle with no know issues and this is anything but.

Not interested in a stock height however I wouldn't pass up a deal if I found one. Like I said the flex was an impulse buy. I rarely drive it. Ive got my stock height 01 v10 excursion but for trips to home depot etc I use a scion xb..kinda like my beater but still reliable to drive car and still gets great gas mileage.

This truck wouldn't be a daily but more like a weekend/after work pleasure driver

Not that you need my approval, but if it works for you, go for it.

Do you have a scanguage (or equivalent?) If not, you'll need one. You're in carrollwood, right? Assuming the truck's local, I could ride out with you and check it out and we could use my scanguage.

You'll be interested in the oil cooler, EGR and FICM for starters.

Not to be too much of a smart *** but the truck's worth whatever he can get for it. He's done a lot of modifications to it. I'll stop short of calling them upgrades until you check it out and can verify that they've been done correctly.

With a truck like that, I'd make sure he kept excellent service records. I'm sure a lot of people have had their grubbies on that vehicle.

Im in south tampa not too far south from Carrollwood. The truck is in ft Lauderdale so if I decide to do this trade I have to get all the financial stuff straight because I don't want to make more than one trip out there.

Ohhh yeah... I'm not going to Ft Lauderdale with you lol. I wouldn't think that truck is worth anywhere near what the Flex is worth, but again, it's a matter of what he thinks the "upgrades" are worth. I wouldn't pay $15k for it, but then again, that truck's not really my cup of tea either.

Well this deal fell through. Dont want to keep making new threads so ill post it here. Found a guy very interested in my flex. He has a 2007 f250 lariat 2wd 6.0 with 133k. Looks clean and everything. I really like it. One question...is 4100 hours a lot for 133k miles? Seems a little high if ford claims 1 hour should equal 25 miles (I think that's what I read)

The 07 is the safest 6.0...I have a couple family members that have them. Of course, they did all the bulletproofing to them. If it is in good cosmetic shape with no mechanical issues, it would go for about $18-20k here. That does seem like a lot of idle time on that engine. Does he have an explanation for all the hours?

A rule of thumb when it comes to 4wd: You'd much rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

When I bought my 2wd Excursion, it was in the paper as one of the last 2001's and the dealer made me a stupid good deal on it. Could've had a black one with 5000 miles and 4wd and twisted the dealer's arm for a deal on it; looking back, I wish I would've. There were so many times I could've used 4wd it's not funny.

That's why should mine get destroyed, stolen, or totalled, I'd get another Excursion with 4wd.

Just a small piece of advice based on my experience.
