Radiator Hose for Y-Pipe boots?
1997 4-Door F350 7.3 PSD 2WD E4OD Auto 3.55 280,000miles
I Pulled my Turbo, replaced the wheel. Y-Pipe boots were pretty bad. I went to parts store all they had in the size I needed was radiator hose. I got it, cut two pieces to length and installed. Truck has never run better.
Before I did this Boost numbers never got over 7 psi.
During test drive, I took my foot out of it several times at 17 psi(tied in near MAP)/2900 rpm/1100 on pyro.
6637 intake. 3" DP, 4" Diamond Eye Exhaust w/cat delete.
These numbers look OK? and does anyone see a problem with using Radiator hose for Y-Pipe boots.
Thanks folks.

I've actually been running some "radiator" hose on my IC for about a year and a half now. It works pretty good. Just do a CCV mod to keep the oil out of them.
These "boots" that we made with the coolant hose are sticky as hell. As in they don't come loose from whatever they got clamped to without using a lot of force and cussing. I see no reason to get rid of them unless it would just be to make it easier to get the IC pipes in and out of the boots.

Ford House wanted over 50.00 ea. I told,em thanks but no thanks.
I ordered a couple from Riff Raff. I'll have them on hand when I need them.
I hooked up to my (I need to weight it/ Title says it's 8900 lbs) 5th wheel Saturday morning and pulled it 200 miles up to San Marcos Tx.
Truck is running pretty good. from what I was able to discern pulling it up there, and back down...
Tranny temps never got over 168* (sat. 9am-1pm)on the way up...65-70 mph at first...Pre-Turbo Pyro numbers were a little scary. Had to keep it between 1000-1200 to maintain speed I backed it down to 60-65 mph keeping them a couple of hundred lower (for the most part) 850-1150 or so.
I used OD when I could on the way up. Guess-timated 12.5 mpg. OD-On ( going up grades), I'd throttle back around 65 mph OD-Off and ease back into the throttle around 60 mph and ease off to keep Pyro off of 1200.
Tranny temp never got over 170* (mon. 12pm-4pm) on the way back...I used OD Very little on the way back. guess-timated 10.5mpg
OD-Off /Cruise set at 56 mph/2250 rpm/Pyro would peak at the top of grades at 1200*
How much would a chip affect these numbers and speeds?
Your thoughts please.
Thanks Fellas.
