Who here hasn't played with Tonka trucks?

My wife saved this story for me and showed it to me. Please forgive the base unit of this truck, it probably would have been better if it was a Ford.

Who here wouldn't have wanted this to play with when you were a kid.

Were it me it would be a Tonka dump truck (Ford based)

Yeah, but tow trucks are cool. I only had the dump truck as a kid.

Toys ? Now were talkin !! Have the 1958 Nylint #2200 Michigan shovel I received for xmas in '68 ,of course it is restored as many of the other 400 + pcs. in the collection .Al are Nylint . Have 5 pcs. of Doepke which werer more detailed construction toys . Most are either restored late 40's , '50's & '60's or mint in box . Received a class prize a few yrs. ago with the Michigan Shovel .Justified as a collection for one & only daughter who is going to make me a proud 1st time Grandpa in Nov. If the child is a boy he is going to have one of the baddest toy collections on the planet . Got the girl part covered also . Collected Barbie dolls for her for yrs. , all mint in box !!

So why do I run big jobs, thats easy, somewhere around 1953 or 54 my cousin got a fleet of those for Christmas. He got all styles/ looked like 53 F8 & 900s.
Payback, all these years mine are real!!!!

Scary question.... Not having at least one Tonka Truck in your childhood is borderline child-abuse......

Ahh yes, I have fond memories of dragging my big yellow dumptruck up to the top of the street, setting down in the bed and trying to figure out where to put your feet and setting off on a high speed, no brakes, no steering ride down the street......
