Taking Suggested Sept Dates for 2013 GTG

Update: The 7th of September has been selected as the date for the 2013 GTG. Unless, that is, if someone just can't make it that day - if so please let us know immediately.

I'm in the planning stage for the 2013 get-together. It'll be at my shop in Skiatook, and it'll be in September. But, I probably ought to be more specific on the date. So, what dates are good for y'all? I'd like to stay away from the Labor Day weekend, but what works for you?

Well, obviously we want to skip the labor day weekend as stated. So I am open for any other weekend. Sooner the better for me as we are preparing to move out of state and hopefully will have the house in closing procedures during the month of September.

So i'll suggest Saturday September 7th

That's too far out for me to plan. My work schedule is crazy and constantly changing. I'll try to be there no matter the date.

Labor Day weekend is usually when we have my little girls birthday events. She will be 18 this Sept. So I agree to make it later in the month.

So far there are 3 of us saying no to Labor Day weekend, 1 saying the 7th, and one saying something like "just schedule it and I'll try to be there".

So, the rest of y'all need to chime in if you have a preference. I want to give everyone at least a month's lead time, and preferably more.

All day event or just after lunch? How about we try something different this time and we all meet up at a local restaurant in Skiatook first, then convoy in our Ford's over to Gary's. People will watch and stare and think we are weird. It'll be fun. Is there an IHOP in Skiatook?

I'm game for whatever time we want, all day or 1/2 day. And, I think that's a good idea to meet up, although some of us won't have vintage wheels that drive - yet. Would that be breakfast or lunch?

There's no IHOP, but there is a local place on 20 almost due south of me that serves a decent breakfast. If you are a coffee addict like me you'll not like the hot dishwater they pour in the cups, but the food itself is pretty good. Or, there's the donut shop closer to town, and the coffee's better. However, breakfast might be a tad early for some of the folks coming in a ways, like Yaga from Moore.

What'cha think, folks?

I agree about labor day. I'm down for any other weekend, though. I like the idea of meeting somewhere for breakfast, lunch, brunch, snack, whatever.

Well, since everyone seems to be open in September what do you say we go ahead and make the 7th the day until otherwise someone really wants to come but cannot on that day?

How long do you think it'll take to do 4 ball joints on the truck? Do we have any other work to do?

I like that idea. There is an old Rons Hamburgers joint on the main drag in Skiatook.

That Ron's is usually pretty good! I wouldn't mind eating there.

The 7th it is

Ok, I put a note in the first post that we are meeting on the 7th unless someone just can't meet that day. But, let's plan on that day.

Sounds like we should start in the morning, break for lunch at Ron's, and then hit it again in the afternoon. That'll allow those coming from a bit further away that us locals to get here at a reasonable time.

But, we could still either meet at the donut shop in Skiatook that morning before starting, or I could go there and snag a box of goodies for consumption in the shop. What are your thoughts regarding that?

Anyway, I will have coffee, for those of us mature enough to drink it, in addition to the usual mix of Coke, Sprite, Root Beer, and water.

Suggestions for when and where we start?

Are you going to brew the heavy duty stuff you drink?

Start at 9:30-10:00am and get a couple hours of work done before we break for lunch at Ron's. If some of us want to meet for breakfast than we can, or just grab something on the way to Gary's, or Gary I am fine with you picking up some donuts.

After lunch we come back and get some work done until we either get hungry again or Gary kick's us out?
