My Search for a 57-60 F100

I have been looking for a good progect truck (57-60 F100) for a few months now. If anyone happens to stumble on to one under $2k that is not a rust bucket could you please let me know. I'm in Nevada so the closer the better.

Thank you,
-Ryan

Seems almost hard to find a rustbucket in Nevada! I suppose someone driving from Detroit to California could have broken down and abandoned one there The fridge years are a great combination of old truck nostalgia, yet with a roomy modern cab and excellent drivability. Not to mention plastic covered wiring and 12 volts from the start. Best of luck in your search. Wish I could go truck hunting in Nevada, but maybe in the winter.

I do find some here and there, either they want their weight in gold for them......or they are so parted out that it would cost too much money to piece it back together. I find a lot of 53-56 trucks, but that is not what I'm looking for and they are naturally priced higher for some reason.

Here's a thought ya might wanna follow up on. I don't know what part of NV. your in but I spent many years in the Carson City area and can tell you that Indian Reservations are a great source for fairly rust free vehicles. I'm not sure if it still holds true or not but natives who live on the rez would get government allotment checks that allowed them to buy a new vehicle. They'd run it til it broke, park it, and then get another check and buy another one. Next thing ya know, there would be a stockpile of old cars and trucks just laying around rez waiting to be bought for pennies on the dollar. Generally you will need to get permission from the local tribal counsel to get permission to enter their rez. Get a local to rep you if you can. BTW, if your in the NW part of NV and run into a crazed & wild Paiute that goes by the name Kevin Anderson (former special forces, former BIA agent & former Fed Con) steer clear of 'em. But if you can't....tell his old boss Capt'n Phillips sayz hello Dawi'.
Good Luck with your search!

Capt'n thanks for the idea, I'm in Vegas. If I do not find anything I may just make a day trip up there to see what I can find.

I found one, just waiting for more pictures before I make the drive. I just hope it is a diamond in the rough.

I was watchin' Counting Cars last night. The guys went to a Vegas impound yard and bought a 1962 Chebbie pickup.

When they walked thru the gate, the first vehicle that was visible: 1957/60 Ford red/white Styleside pickup. Grille not visible, so I dunno what year it is, but it's not an F350.

I was born and raised in North West Washington state. I ran highway 1 or 101 from Mexico to Canada a lot. And the Rez was always the best place to score a cheap classic car or truck that needed very little to get it back on the road. Some of the best pickins I have ever seen. Bar None.

You're living in my dream world, rust free and 53-56 Ford trucks don't belong in the same sentence very often around here...if you can find any at all!

I think I have seen a couple of those, tho who knows how much they will come down in price.

A non-running truck is better for me too, as I'm going to drop a s/c mod motor in what ever truck I find.
