recently purchused a 1990 f150 4x4..

it is a 5spd with the 300i6. man i love these old trucks but anyhow...

the guy said the speedo didnt wrk so i crawled under the truck to find the cable jus dangling there. started looking around on the tranny and tcase for the vss to hook it back in and, well....... theres not one.
i think i kno where it should be but its not there nor any indication there was ever one... so... im kinda confused on this and any advice help, and/or info is much appreciated.

shouldnt it be at the rear of the tcase??

It probably has a later transmission/TC, they moved the VSS to the differential in 92 ... This was done when the speedometers went all electronic...

Yes.. so it would appear the truck doesn't have the original T-case in it.

You could keep your existing case and swap tailcones, but you'll also have to tear the case down (easy job) and put the speedo drive gear on the output shaft to get it to work.

Only other choice is to replace the entire transfer case with one that's set up for the mechanical speedo.

Any BW1356 will work as long as it has the tailcone that will accept the speedo gear.
