The ideal donor truck for the harness would be a '93 so all the block connectors match up. The ideal 5.8 motor is a '94 or later for the better roller cam.

Yes, as long as you spend a little time making sure that there are not any sensor differences or component differences along the way. 98% should be the same; it's that last 2% that always gets you. One thing I know is that the Intake Air Temp sensor is in the manifold on the 93 engine, but in the air box on the 96. This will make a difference when you are holding the plug for the IAT and have no clue where to plug it in. You might need to drill and tap the manifold for it because the boss for the sensor might be unfinished. Also, the 93 was (I believe) batch fire and the 96 was sequential fire on the injectors, so it is critical to be sure that your injector wiring is spot on. Like I said, 98% should be a snap. Also, you will need frame brackets for the V8, because the I6 mounting points are different. The V8s mount to brackets that bolt to the rear of the crossmenber for the engine. FYI, the 96 serpentine belt setup is supposedly the best of all years.
