Harmonic balancer

I seem to have developed a very annoying squeak / squeal under my hood. It is directly related to the engine RPM. Sounds like a pulley or belt, but when looking under the hood with the engine running, my harmonic balancer is wobbling all over the place. I just replaced the harmonic balancer about 2 years ago. Why are these harmonic balancers going bad? The truck is a 2002 F350 with less than 90K on the clock.

Well, I took the three hour drive to my cabin on Thurs, we made it, but the belt slipped off the crank pulley and shredded. It was 1/2 the original width and was on the outer edge do the harmonic balancer. I bought a new belt, and when I took the belt off, the outer ring of the balancer slid off the engine. The rubber that bonds the inner and outer together was totally gone. I called the only local tow company with a rollback big enough for my truck. He towed it 88 miles to the Ford dealer where it currently sits awaiting repair. Had to have my dad make the three hour drive to come get me and my family and take us home. Now I need to make a 2 hour drive (one way) to get my truck later this week when it is finished.

No idea but here is a bump. You are the first that I have heard of having problems.

X2. I can see the tensioner coming apart, but didn't know the balancers could.

It has happen a few times that I have seen on here. Most upgrade to after market type. Its hard to believe you had the new one go that fast. I don't know why ford would take that long to get it repaired. Its not that hard to do.

The dealership had it done the next day, I just need to take time off work to drive two hours (one way) to go get it.
