There are Diablo chips and Superchips chips for 1986-2003, just depends on the code on the sticker on your computer box. What's on it?

Do the chips increase performance or do they increase fuel mileage? I would like to find one to help on mileage, but so far no luck.

They increase performance mainly. and I just put one on mine, and the way I'm driving it, I won't be getting better mileage!

Thanks for the info. I put over 230 miles a day on my 4.2 plus weekends and evenings. It is a 4 wheel drive and I love it. I would like to see about getting the mileage close to 20 on the highway. Put a K&N air filter on and it made no difference. If anybody has any proven ideas let me know.

The best ways to improve mileage are properly inflated tires and keeping the speed at 55mph.

JET makes chips for Fords, http://www.jetchip.com/

FWIW: Most chips require you to run high octane gas, which negates any savings you get from increased fuel mileage.

If you are going to drive it another 100K miles, syn. fluids all around will increase your mileage. Though as posted, the most cost effective way to increase mileage is properly inflated tires, have your vehicle in tune, and drive moderately.

V8's should run on Premium anyway. Regular is fine for V6's and 4-bangers but V8's need the sweet nectar of Premium. JMO
