2003 Explorer Eddie Bauer 4.0l SOHC Timing chain cover gasket change
I have seen several threads on this but I need a little more information before I attempt it. I have a 2003 Eddie Bauer explorer with the 4.0L SOHC . I have a coolant leak from the passenger side that is not a water pump issue.
When removing the timing chain cover with the engine in the car, do I need to remove any accessories ( power steering , alternator etc. ) or their brackets?

Not sure how to close a thread on here or if it is even possible.
Fortunately I have discovered I do need to remove the timing chain cover to fix a water leak. Through the use of a boroscope I eventually discovered the leak was from a failed ultrasonic weld on the backside of he thermostat. Housing. The leak was dripping down the passenger side of the timing chain cover, appearing to be leaking from the cover

Take a close look at your tensioners when you are in there. Proven POS design. You have to pull the engine to get the back one.
