Exclamation Age catching up on you.

Recently I have noticed that I am slowing down and aching more. I think that age has finally caught up with me, as I am beginning to feel maybe I am over sixty now. Being overweight is not a help to this, but I am slowly getting my diet under control, with the help of Sissy, who is also benefiting from it, but the slowing down sucks - I have always been very strong, way stronger than most people, but now I seem to get tired easily, and my hair has started going gray.

I am not complaining really, just recognizing that life tends to make the body change when you hit sixty. A couple of years ago, still in my fifties I was much fitter, still as tough as nails, and not slowing down at all, but now, I reckon I might lose a fight if I got into one. That would be a first I don't want to experience, so I suppose I need to calm down and accept aging gracefully. Sissy says I still look like someone nobody would want to argue with, so maybe I ain't totally lost yet.

Anyway, just thought I would sound off on the terrors of getting old.

RULE NUMBER ONE: NEVER fight fair! Only a fool offers quarter to a known enemy
RULE NUMBER TWO: Conserve Energy! Let the adversary wear him or her out
RULE NUMBER THREE: Never forget rule number one!

The nasty part is when you realise you can still build muscles up - but your bone structure will not hold up under the load.

I have always hated that...

Never had a fair fight in my life, Dutch - that is a fool's game. Get 'em down fast, and keep them there. They taught me that in the sixties, when I signed the form... been doing it ever since.

Age caught up to one of my neighbors parents today - a broken pelvis, and he is 85.

Everything he owns is about to be snapped up by this damned state, and he will never be on his feet again. His wife is already in a hospice or nursing home - I could not believe it when I went over there and heard what had happened

HE FELL DOWN! He just FELL DOWN - that is all that caused it.

There is no fix for that... You can get no prosthesis, no pins no bolts, nothing.
And I just talked to him recently when he was over there - he is a good man.

I offered to purchase his Aerostar van (which is a four wheel drive) if they can somehow manage to save it. By time payments if necessary.

We don't know if that can be done, but if it can at least something can be saved and the cash will help the family.
Otherwise the State medical program will take it away and cash it out at auction.

They are going to liquidate everything that the man owns in order to pay for his medical care (?)

It cries a river to hear of such a thing.....

My prayers tonight go to them all.

That happens all to often - I know of many people that had everything they owned taken to pay the medical bills. Makes me want to own nothing by the time I am through.

Just had to chime in.

There's only one way NOT to grow old, and that's to die young. Not an option.

At 55 I'm half way to 60. I used to be able to run from a fight if it was not going my way. Also not an option any more. Getting better at talking my way out of it!

The reason I took half retirement is because my body did not agree with what the military believes is the ideal exercise program.

They want Ectomorphs - skinny as a rail and full of stamina

My body type is MESOMORPH - Strong, but short duration.

If you train it wrong, it will be ruined

Take this test, and find out where YOU stand:
