better shocks, stock lift

Im looking for a little better ride out of my 07 f250 fx4. I have 180,000 miles on it now and the rancheros I believe are shot. Looking for a good everyday driver shock. I don't off-road but I pull trailers a lot. everyone tells me bilsteins but they have lifted trucks, should I just go get a monroe gas charged shock or look to the off-road aftermarket. I do run a 35" tire also

Monroes have always treated me right. You can replace all 4 shocks with the premium Monroe shocks for the < the cost of 2 bilstiens.

bilstien does make them in factory heights btw.

it's a personal preference really. You've already done 180k on the stock junkers. Monroes will be exponentially better

I put Pro Comp's on mine. Stock height with stock size tires still. As I intend to keep mine that way.

I have Monroe Reflex shocks on my 2001, they seem like a great shock so far. I only have a few hundred miles on them and most are towing a 10k + pound fifth wheel.

I have the Bilstein blue and yellows, the standard ones, they ride smooth to me.

X3 on the Bilstein Yellow & Blues. Your FX4 junk shocks are approx. 150k overdue for replacement. They are really crap shocks. You'll be amazed when you compress them after removal and notice they don't rebound. They prolly haven't since 30k miles. Check out www.shockwarehouse.com. They have great pricing and regularly run specials.

Bilsteins are not stiff, but are pricey. I run KYBs, which have been a good mix of price/performance.

I have ran both the bilsteins and and rancho shocks. The ones that come on your truck aren't the same as the ones you buy. Out of the two different ones I prefer the rancho's over the bilsteins I just feel they handle better. Now they are going to feel stiff to you if you have been running you other shocks for as long as you have because as mentioned above they are shot and have been for a long time.

I'm running Bilstein 5100's I am slightly lifted but they do make them in the stock height. I run the stock height ones up front and 4"-6" lift ones in back. I think they are great, although all i had to compare them to was the OEM shocks that had 98k on them and were used to plow and tow for 65k of their life. I noticed right away after the shocks were in that is was riding better.
