Underbed tank for a panel?

Underbed tank for a panel?
I'm getting to where I need to decide how I'm going to handle fuel in my 54 panel van. The old tank, which was between the rails, is toast.
I know I can go with a tank under the running board like a pickup or go with a replacement panel tank.
For a little more fuel capacity and some ease in dealing with my exhaust, I'm wondering whether there's a way to put an older model Mustang tank under the bed and still fill it from outside. I really don't want to use a bed filler.
Any thoughts?

that should have said all that was left was the filler neck and cap, not tank, the tank was gone. There were a lot of cars in the 60's early 70's that had the fill neck behind a fold down license plate in the rear bumper. Take measurements of the space and do some thumbing thru a replacement tank catalog.. The original tank is not a complex shape so a custom tank should not be outrageous. There are several replacement tank fabricators that advertise in Street Rodder magazine.
