Talking my mustang 22 gal tank install

I finally got to start on my Mustang gas tank installation , I was suppose to get a lot more done today but when i went to move the truck to the garage my starter solenoid decided to stick in the start position . auuugh
i had to scramble to unlock the hood then disconnect the battery . good new is my battery kept cranking for a good 10 minutes !
so quick trip to Autozone and buy the best solenoid they have and a positive battery cable (kinda fried it)
here's the pics ( sorry no blood this time )

What was the P/N or Item number from AZ? Or did you get it somewhere else?

I think I am going to do the same thing on my resto.

Thanks!

The spec is for a 70 Mustang cuz 65-68s came with 16-gallon and 69s came with 20-gallon. A stainless version is available from Scott Drake Enterprises.

Classic Mustang Fuel Tanks - Fuel Tank Kits

...... Subscribed. Mike, where ya putting the filler? The bed floor?

I suggest painting the tank with Eastwood's "Tank Tone", a high zinc content paint to stave off corrosion... - not a problem in Antelope Valley but the guys in the midwest might wanna think about it.

I plan on having the filler in the drivers far corner of the bed , i am going to make a hatch that opens with a push button (stealing one from a newer import car) pick ur part run.

Hey Mike, while your posts are great and informative, we have become accustomed to your blood loss and skin loss. Without this how do we know your the one doing the work?
On a side note, you said you had to scramble to unlock the hood, how is your hood locked? Maybe a hood release in the cab could be your next project.
This is one reason why I won't use the chain and lock method.
I'm glad your alright and no blood was lost. Keep us updated on your tank install.

got some more done today , removed the spare tire and mount brackets , also removed the cross member , what a pain , took me 4 hours to remove 8 rivets . doing this with the bed still on is a lot harder .

had to remove some helper spring brackets that were bolted to frame where tank is going to be . hopefully tomorrow I can trim the frame rails and relocate the cross member to the rear .

Why didn't you pull the bed? Glad you got to use your new chocks, I'm sure that was a needed relief since the last episode.

Ain't it "SWMBO"?..... The CFO! The Department of the Treasury! The Safety Officer!

Oooh... you're kinda OCD too, eh? Both a hindrance and an advantage in this hobby!

It's a sickness and I have it too.

You start one thing and it quickly snowballs into: "well I might as well..... while I'm at it" and it never ends.

Something simple like washing the truck turns into installing a CV front suspension and repainting the whole truck.
