Post 96 Bronco fuel filter replacement

How the hell do I get the filter OUT of the retaining bracket? I can get the fuel lines disconnected okay but cannot get the filter out of the bracket that bolts to the frame rail. Any clues or tips?

Thanks,
BroncoBob3151

If it is the one I think it is sometimes you may have to actually remove the whole bracket. Please tell me the location of it and I can help you better..I forgot where it is on that unit.

96 Bronco fuel filter replacement

I removed the whole bracket on my 1996 F150 xlt 4x4.
There is not much space where the fuel filter is located.(drivers side, next to the frame rail, about the middle of the vehicle).
The fuel lines required a little round plastic tool to disconnect them. I had to push the plastic tool between the fuel line and the filter.
I would recommend changing it about every 50,000 miles.
Best of luck,
Gene

how do you release the fuel line pressure in order to successfully use the clip tool to remove the filter?

Start the truck then shut off the fuel inertia switch behind the passenger kick panel. Run it 'til it dies. There will still be some fuel that runs out when you disconnect the fuel lines, so you may get wet.

I pull the fuel pump fuse or relay and let the engine run out of fuel. You will still get fuel when the line is disconnected so be careful and wear eye protection. I unbolt the filter bracket from the frame to get better access to the fuel line disconnects.
