1964 f100 body on 1977 f100 4x4 frame

Time for a body swap.. 1964 f100 body to the 1978 f100 4x4 frame..

Here's old buckwheat

This is the 64.. I found it at the local scrap yard, paid 400$ fixed the wiring there and drove it 15 miles home!

Got the clip off buckwheat

Then the cab.. I did something VERY stupid here.. I didn't intend to hurt the cab like I did with the chains.. I ran a 2x4 through the windows of the 66 and used a cloth strap.. no damage that way

Dirty girl!

Ol' reds next

Took the clip and all on this one.. had some bolt issues:/.. no biggie!

Little less mud, little more grease.. its alright, we cookin with peanut oil now

Buckwheats measurements

Reds measurements

Basically a DIRECT bolt on

More to come!

Got started at 5am and got a few good hours in

She lined up with only 2 things interfearing. The fender at the steering box was one and the other was the hole for the stick..

got em straight and here it rests..

What's left of the 64

Almost looks like somethings happenin

I'm going to give the inner fenders a oil bath when I'm finished.. the rust isn't too terrible in Alabama but I like knowing there's some protection under there

Looks like you are doing a good job and is going to fit better than i thought it would. One correction though , the 64 was the last year ford use a straight axle and leaf springs. That 2 wd one has coils and Twin I-beam so it is 65 or newer. Still looking good though so keep up the good work.__

Is that on the door or frame ? You want to go by the one on the frame because doors can be switched after a wreck or what ever and it's going to have the numbers off of the truck it came from. Happens a lot and in your state it might be okay some states it's a big problem.
It should be stamped on the right top frame and under the cab on the passenger side.

Do a google search and put in [ what year did Ford start using the twin I-beam in the F-100 , 150 and 250 ] , then see what you bring up . I'm old enough to remember when they came out .

Not 100% sure on the warranty plates on the 61-66 but I believe that "64" is the DSO (district sales office) That's the district office that the dealer ordered the truck through.

My data for pre-73 trucks is sketchy but from what I've been able to find out, yours is a '66.
The "64" on the warranty plate is the DSO
The grill looks like a '66 grill.
Twin I-beams first year was '65
The VIN is either late 65 or early 66. This is where my data is really skimpy.
