motor swap for 02 f250

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
I need to pick a ford enthusiast brain for a moment if I may.............
I have a 02 f250 2wd that I need to replace the 5.4 triton motor in (307,000 VERY HARD miles on it). Can someone help me with a question I have about it?
I found a 1998 e250 van with the 5.4 triton, will it fit, and what would I have to do to make it work with all the sensors on the computer in the f250?

Thanks for any information and wisdom I hope to receive.

Did you ever get an answer? I'm in a similar position and am trying to figure out what all to look out for.

Don't give up on us, you probably would have had better luck if you would have posted in the super duty forum, the answer to your question is yes it will fit but you might have to change over things like the intake manifold possibly the exhaust manifolds and your accessory's and brackets..

You need to check out when Ford changed the heads, I'm pretty sure the 02 has the PI heads which means more power than the 98.

I did some checking. Ford did the PI head change in 1999, 260hp with 345ftq. So if you would use the 98 engine you would be giving up both hp and tq.

Don't give up on the site yet. I've been on here for 10 years and I can't even begin to tell you how valuable the guys here have been. That said, sometimes you have to knock on multiple doors until you get your answer. Been there, done it a lot.

I also have a question, I am talking to two people about buying their used 5.4's. I haven't decided which I will buy. My question is , are there any components that are recommended to be replaced before the "new" engine is dropped in?

All depends on the maitenance history, it s easier changing plugs and coil packs with the engine out also look at the exhaust manifold studs because they are not fun to fix with the engine in either..
