front mini spring pack

I saw a '03 F350 today that really looked nice so I got out to get a closer look. I thought it had about a 6 inch lift and since that is what I think I want to do to mine, I looked at the suspension first. What this guy did was use a mini spring pack under his 4 inch leaf pack to gain the additional height. My question is, after thinking about it for a little while, what is the difference in a mini spring pack an a block? Now, I know you don't use blocks in the front but I can't really tell much of a difference in the two. The spring pack definitely does not have any flex to it as the leafs are just too short. Opinions please.

expense and ease of install. mini packs are a PITA to install and run $100+. a Lift shackle is $50 shipped and is 2 simple bolts.

get a 1" through 3" lift shackle instead. I did a custom AAL for my front leaf pack that gained me 0.5" of height, but firmed up the ride a bit. I plan on installing a 2" lift shackle to level
