AE is then Cadillac of scanners.
Scan Gauge is the Volkswagen.

They both do a good job but it depends what you want to use them for. AE will require a laptop computer. Scan gauge does not require a computer and is great for watching vehicle parameters while driving. If all you want is a scanner for diagnostic purposes then spend the extra and go with AE. If you want most of the diagnostics necessary to troubleshoot your rig and also view data while driving on a regular basis then go with Scan Gauge.
