Kiss one 4.9L goodbye

They're supposed to last to 300k, but apparently mine didn't. At 200k she's done. I have high crankcase pressure, causing it to leak oil from every possible place. I replaced the PCV and that didn't seem to help with the pressure, which tells me that it's likely rings.

Today it seems that I have no oil pressure below 1500 RPM's.

So it looks like it needs exploratory surgery and very likely a rebuild.

If I decide go that route, I guess it would be a great time to upgrade the cam, put in something that would appreciate the header a little more.

Suggestions?

If you disconnect the pcv valve from the hose you should have a HUGE vacuum leak. If not something is clogged and the pcv system won't work. Check that before condemning the engine... though at 200k it may be done.

PCV is working perfectly, unfortunately. And that doesn't explain the lack of oil pressure either.

Now I'm weighing the options of having a local machine shop rebuild it and putting a cam in it, or getting a long block with a warranty.
