What is the difference in radios in superduty

Good Morning
I hope some of the Ford specialists here know about radios. I have gotten alot of great mechanical advice here so hope you know radios also.
I have a 1999 F250 superduty 7.3L 4X4. It is a great old truck. Anyway the radio is not working anymore. I have been looking at used radios on Ebay, etc and cannot figure out the difference. Mine is the old style radio, cassette, single cd. The model is F87F-18C868-DD. Most I have found have the same look but different model numbers. What is the difference? The plugs won't match? How many different radios Ford in stall in a single year? Are there any other radio models that are compatible with the one I have?
Thanks
Pam

I have just gone through this finding a Ford radio for an 06 motor home I was working on. The plugs on the back vary tremendously, but it is also possible to have different model numbers that will work just fine, provided they have the same plug. I would suggest going to one of the suppliers on the Internet who deal in radios and typing in your model number. They often will list you model number, plus all the model numbers that are the same. In my case, there were three model numbers that were identical radios.

Good luck,

Steve
