scrap yard prices on exhaust

just curious if anyone has ever sold a catalytic converter or dpf filter for scrap and what they brought for money. I just called a scrap yard and was told the cat was worth $85 and the dpf was worth $115

Those are pretty good. I searched a while back and best I found was $150 for both. Local yard had a few 6.4 exhaust systems laying around the other day, they said they gave a guy $50 for the whole exhaust all the way to the tips.

well i sold the cat and dpf to a local yard for $215 he said he would make $20 on it. he said the dodges one are worth a lot and he had found one in a pile of stuff someone brought in for just prepared scrap. me neighbor has a new dodge 6.7 and wants to make it louder i might have to tell him it might not cost much if he sold his stock exhaust.....

Re:scrap yard prices on exhaust

Catalytic converters may bring in good bucks because they contain precious metals. Why dont you get in touch with the local scrap yards in town and ask what the going price is for the cat or the DPF? We had been to the SIMS facility recently to sell loads of metal scrap and we got a good deal on our stuff. They have locations all over the country, so Id suggest you check out http://us.simsmm.com/ for more details.
