69 and 73 frame dimensions

I was wondering if the 69 and 73 F100 2WD trucks have the same frame dimensions. I'm wanting to throw the 360 from my 73 into my 69. Obviously, not having to fab up some new engine mounts would be awesome.

The short answer is no they are not the same but you can take all the parts you need for the swap from the newer truck. They will all bolt in providing both chassis are the same drive wise. 2wd & 2wd or 4wd & 4wd

Sorry I dis-agree with elgemcdlf.
In 73 the frame was widened and lengthened at the rear of the cab back. The measurements are same from the rear of the cab to front bumper 65-79.

The FE will bolt right in. Bring the drivers side frame perch with it as the 73 should have power steering that you might also want to swap along with the front axles for power disc brakes.

Doesn't this make them different?

Jesus, those diagrams are confusing! I'll try to analyze them though.

So, what you guys are saying is that in the front, the only area that matters for a swap, the frames are the same, meaning I can just swap engines as well as mounts and all that without any or much fabbing? If so, that's great!

The OP asked about an engine swap, that area is the same. If he had wanted to place the engine in the bed it might have.

Correctomondo! No fabbing at all.

Awesome! This is excellent news. It makes my life a lot easier. When my '69's tranny is rebuilt and installed, I'll pull the '73's 360, rebuild it as a street performance 390, then simply throw it in. I can't wait! The only issue would be the exhaust, but I'm best friends with a guy that has a metal fab shop in his back yard.

Frame dimensions have nothing to do with an engine swap, as the width between the inner frame rails behind the cab increased from 33 1/2" to 37 1/2" in 1973.

FE right (passenger) side engine support (aka tower/stand/perch) is the same: 1965/76 F100/250 2WD & 1967/76 F350.

There are two different left (drivers) side FE 2WD engine supports.

(1) 1965/68 F100/250 & 1967/68 F350.

(2) 1969/76 F100/350 with or without P/S.
