Strange noise from rear passenger wheel.

I have a 2000 F-150 5.4 Auto 4x4 Ext Cab with 121000 miles. Yesterday evening a metal scraping noise started. I thought I was dragging a branch or piece of scrap metal at first, but I got out and looked and nothing. I checked the hubcap to see if something was rattling in there, but nothing.

Today I took the wheel off and tried to push the dust shield out and checked to see if there was anywhere obviously rubbing, but once again no result. I am guessing wheel bearing now, but wanted better opinions before replacing them.

I have a video of it in forward and then reverse. You can't hear it too well forward at this low of speed but reverse is pretty clear. Reverse sound different than forward.

do you have rear disc brakes ? If so, i guess the emergency shoes inside the disc/drum have fallen apart.

I do have 4 wheel disc brakes and that makes sense as a week or two ago the emergency brake quite functioning. I had forgotten and hadn't connected the two issues together.

I'm willing to bet Steve is correct! These parking brakes are known for issues. I just had an issue with mine making noise last week...drove me crazy....I took the parking brake shoes out completely...problem solved!

I dove into it today and discovered the lower spring was gone that holds the pads together. That let the adjusting screw fall and that was what was making the noise grinding around. I just did the same thing removing all the parking brake components. I thank you all for the help, I didn't even know how the parking brake worked with rear discs till now. I probably would have taken it to the shop without this site.
