Question on Moog lower ball joint, Greaseable or not?
I just finished installing Moog ball joints(upper/lower) K80026/K8607T, needle bearings and installed new shocks, All thanks to this great forum. Kudos to Racerguy and Guzzler's write ups. All went as planned, no hiccups.
My question is there is a grease fitting for the upper ball joint. The lower ball joint has a hole there but it has no threads and I'm not sure if it is greasable. Anyone know? I also updated my tires to LT315/75R-16 Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S D, old ones where 305/75/16. What a smooth ride and virtually no noise at all.
Truck is 99' f250 superduty 4x4 CC.

both my moog ball joints are greasable...the upper I have to put a fitting in every time I do it because the axel joint wont clear it...kind of a drag to take the plug out and put in the fitting but in the 5 years they have been in there careing a snow plow all winter they are still as good as new

Grease fittings should have come with the ball joints. Moog packages the grease fitting, nut and cotter pin in a sealed plastic bag. If you got shorted on the fitting, your local parts store should have a package of grease fittings. Greasing them routinely is the key to long service life on any joint. Good choice on the Moogs, they are great joints.

The zerk itself should have threads, the hole on the ball joint doesn't. This is correct just install as they are self tapping.

I read one of these write ups, don't remember which one, but I'd did say you can clearance the upper balljoint zerk fitting with a dremmel , with the fitting installed on the truck.
I recently purchased my truck, and it has had all the balljoints replaced.
The driver side has the zerk fittings installed, and there is no clearance issues.
Unknown why they didn't install the passenger side fittings, it has plugs installed, which I will be changing out today.
Ford does not install a greasable ballpoint from the factory , thus I am positive this work was done.

I have a offset grease fitting. It plugs into my grease gun then slides at a 90 degree angle onto a straight grease zerk. When finished the adapter just slides back off and back into my tool box. Helps in those tight fitting areas. That way there is usually no need for the plugged off grease hole and the straight zerk is usually shorter than the 90 degree one.
