Drawbacks to crankcase breather filter instead of connecting to air cleaner

Is there any drawback to using something like this instead of connecting to the air cleaner with a hose.

As long as you have a decent filter and are sucking clean air in, you are OK.

PCV on one side, breather on the other, right?

I suspect the drawback is what you will spend on it over a regular vented cap. Only one though, you need the vacuum pvc operating & sweeping the engine.

Thanks, definitely putting the pcv valve on and connecting to carb or spacer. Only reason for the independent breather filter is that an aftermarket air cleaner is very likely.
