Lacquer ?..

Discovered this today on ScottyKilmer.com website (42 years experience), He uses 1 gallon of lacquer thinner mixed with 16 gallons of fuel in a 16:1 ratio to clean the Cat, does anybody have any opinions good or bad about this method, if it works it would save me lot's of money but i am concerned about damage to the O2 sensor, if it does get damaged from the lacquer thinner it is still less expensive to replace @ $31 for a new O2.

Your O2 sensor is already dead, its a maintenance item that should be replaced every 80,000 miles. So don't worry about ruining it, just plan on buying a new one.

ScottyKilmer is an unprofessional mechanic IMHO and I would never ever let someone like him look at my car, let alone touch it, let alone listen to any advise he offered.

Granted, in your case, your stock cat is already plugged according to you, so you have nothing to loose. Try it, if it works, fine, if it doesn't, well you've wasted some otherwise good laquer thinner, but nothing serious.

Heres the thing though, your cat should never have clogged in the first place. If it did, you have a tuning problem or an oil burning problem, and you need to address that and fix it.

Thank-you Khan, good advice indeed. I bought the van with the issue but it has just taken me this long to diagnose it.
