wining and hard shifting

hello i am new to the group and a new owner of a 2000 lighting svt. i knoticed that it makes a wining noise is that the turbo charger. and when you get down on it the change in gears is hard is that normal or do they put shifting kits from the factoey. thanks for any help regards viney

first things first, its a supercharger, not a turbo! it runs off of the belt, not the exhaust... the whining you are hearing is the coolest thing in the world, its 7 lbs of forced air going into your engine... yes its the supercharger. As far as the shifting, it shifts decently hard stock, but if the computer has been reprogrammed or replaced, it will shift even harder!!! If it shifts out of control and gives you whiplash every time, then the chip has been reprogrammed. Your truck may have more mods on it than you know of if this is the case... You may want to ask the previous owner what has been done to it as far as mods go.... Any more questions, this is a great place to ask!
