I'm tellin' ya, these events are the best for test drives, lots to choose from. After driving Tom's EB, I'm headin' to the dealer this weekend to get my wife's Explorer Sport ordered.

Nice! Hope you have a small fund set aside for the speeding tickets.

Looks like a great meet thanks for sharing guys, One day i will make one. One thing i have noticed on the EB trucks with coolant temps when towing is the fast swing from 195 f to 230's f and on the downside of a hill truck will be back into the 180-190 very quickly.. its as almost if the reading is been taken from a water jacket or radiator is not large enough. It seems the 6.2L & 5.0L motors coolant temps hardly move when towing... Almost all the new ford motors are set at a 210 coolant temp before fans and such start coming on.. Anyway just some thoughts.. once again thank you for sharing real world stuff .. I really enjoy the write ups.
Mike

Exactly what we noticed on Tom's truck too, and the A/C blower motor would increase and decrease and weird intervals. Couldn't make out why it was doing it because we were watching the temps and load on the motor when it would occur and wasnt consistent. Just something I found intriguing...

Texted the PO and he said the plugs were changed and the transmission was serviced in summer '11. So yeah, probably time for a little tranny work. Is there anything I should do besides change fluid?

Also, what was the exact name of the neutral switch you showed me on Rock Auto? I found a couple different things on there that looked similar.

Here you go:

RockAuto Parts Catalog

Also use THIS METHOD for your transmission fluid. Takes about 20 minutes.

Thanks, Tom! Sending reps for all your help! Should I do all the steps including removing the fluid pan and changing the filter? The article said it shouldn't be necessary.

It's not necessary, if you have enough crap in the screen to clog the filter then you need a rebuild anyway. Flush and GO!

Nice job everybody. I was sitting creek side with a fishing rod in my hands thinking of you guys pulling that hill. I must say that EcoBoost is an impressive engine. Turbos for my 6.2 would be nice or maybe a supercharger.

Promises, promises. It would have been pretty cool to see what a tuned EB could do. Hopefully one of these years you'll make it Mike!

We all talked about how an EB 6.2 would be the killer in the SD line. I would settle for an EB 5.0 however. I personally don't think either will come to fruition since it would be a costly project, take away from lucrative diesel sales and not sure it would increase sales significantly to offset the first two issues. Just my humble opinion but damn it would be sweet!

Nice write up. Looks like everyone had fun well except your neighbors. BTW, the Toyota film crew got denied the Statue of Liberty move and have returned to Millersburg, OH to film the Tundra towing all the Fords with the trailer while doing it through a tube of fire. That director was disappointed when he found out everyone had left for the day.

Excellent write up Tom. Your Eco-Boost impressed me with it's pulling power.

As for the cornering incident, maybe there wasn't enough tongue weight? I've had that happen to me, but it was on ice while turning into a driveway. I thought I was going to have to get the seat cushions surgically removed.

Redford I think the tongue wt was fine for most everyone there.

I thought it was a bit light for my F250 though. Just seemed like it to me.

I don't think it was tongue weight, the scale validated that we had a good 1,500 lbs on the tongue. The turn was on gravel on a ~10% downslope turning sharp left. I don't think more tongue weight would have made a huge difference.

Also, after looking at the video again for mine I think the YouTube video stabilization is distorting the heck out of it, making it look all over the road. I'm going to upload the raw video and see the difference.
