Best 5.4L book?

Who in your expert opinion offers the best most detailed book on history, performance, and rebuild of the Ford 5.4L engine: George Reid, Sean Hyland, or other? My 98' F150's 5.4L has just about had it at 200,000 miles.

If you can find them in a timely manner. Thanks for all the help people. I bought the (SA) Geroge Reid book after talking with the company that prints it. The last printing was 2009, that will cover everything 'I' need to know about Ford modular engine history. There's lots of posts but how accurate is the info and there's always an argument about who's really right. It would be great if there was a Ford technician forum or section of this site.

What all engines does that book have info about? Tech manuals are still the way to go on repairs if you can find a good book

I didn't ignore your advice and Thank You for it, But I had already gone that route. It's much easier to read from one detailed credible authority to obtain the amount/kind of detailed accurate info on a engine with such history. I have both the Ford factory workshop manuals for my 98' F150. Unfortunately they do not contain info about changes and upgrades to an engine. They are designed for maintenance and repair of the entire vehicle and even lack some repair info. I looked up AC clutch replacement and there was only a section on replacing the AC compressor, nothing more detailed, similar through out the manuals. I did find a detailed instructional from the AC clutch parts manufacturer via Google, that was very valuable. Factory shop manuals are generally a treasure trove as a guideline for repair, but have no history, recall info, part updates, or reasons why. They are written in such a manner so as not to overwhelm a technician trying to fix/repair correctly a problem and finish in a profitable way for the dealership.

The internet is and endless resource for information, conjecture, and opinion. Often too much to wade through in an effort to resolve an issue in a timely and correct manner. In other words, you have to read through a lot of stuff, just to find one little tidbit of detailed info your looking for. Books have a way of focusing you attention that video monitors can not replace or duplicate. Ford is not going to print what's wrong with all there products, or a history lesson about it. Go talk to a machine shop and you'll find out a plethora of things the manufacturers will never tell you.

I just bought it off E-bay ($28.00 free shipping), just came the other day so I haven't had time to read through it yet. I did give it a quick look though and it's loaded with some very specific info. Reading one of these is quite the opposite of spending 150 hrs. on the computer looking for answers and still not getting many results. The book will save a lot of time. Hope to elaborate once I've read it. It does look to be worth every penny, good investment. So far, I highly recommend it!

Haven't had time to fully read the whole book yet, but it appears to be very good.
